Sara Piñeros Cortés is a filmmaker born and based in Bogotá, Colombia. Her practice encompasses various forms of documentary such as essay film, video diary and epistolary film. Currently, Sara is interested in assembling archival material with fictional elements, in order to construct a new discourse and meaning that brings her closer to the original material. In addition, she is interested in topics such as the relationship between humans and non-humans, the female gaze and the practice of cinema in the everyday. Her practice is crossed by writing, photography and voice.

In 2023 she graduated from the master's degree in Time-Based Media at the University of Arts in Linz, Austria. In 2019 she obtained her bachelor degree as a Film and Television Filmmaker from the National University of Colombia. In 2024 together with sound designer Alejandro Quiñones Roa, she founded the Colombian production and postproduction company Ojo de Agua Cine.

Her films have been screened at film festivals such as Doclisboa, Kasseler Dokfest, Ficci, Diagonale and Midbo, among other festivals and screenings in Latin America and Europe.
