Sara Piñeros Cortés is a filmmaker and photographer born and based in Bogotá, Colombia. Her practice encompasses various forms of documentary, including essay film, video diary, and epistolary film. Currently, Sara is interested in assembling archival footage with fictional elements to construct a new discourse and meaning that brings her closer to the original material. In addition, she is interested in topics such as the relationship between humans and non-humans, the female gaze, and the practice of cinema in everyday life. Her practice is crossed by writing, photography, and voice.

In 2023, she graduated with a master's degree in Time-Based Media at the University of Arts in Linz, Austria. In 2019, she obtained her bachelor's degree in Film and Television from the National University of Colombia. In 2024, together with sound designer Alejandro Quiñones Roa, she founded the Colombian production and postproduction company Ojo de Agua Cine.

Her films have been screened at film festivals such as Doclisboa, Kasseler Dokfest, Ficci, Diagonale, and Midbo, among other festivals and screenings in Latin America and Europe.
